Stand Up Paddle for a Good Cause

DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures is searching for a group of folks who would like to coordinate a Stand Up Paddle fund raiser similar to the one where "Larry the Whale" showed up and helped to raise $100k for breast cancer earlier this year near Catalina Island in California.

Watch this awesome Ellen Degeneres clip about an amazing woman, JODIE NELSON, who paddled to raise money for breast cancer and just watch the amazing thing that happened.

Mispillion Maritime Association Stand Up Paddle Night

Janis Markopoulos, owner of DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures attended this evening Milford's Mispillion Maritime Association meeting to discuss Stand Up Paddling (SUP) on the Mispillion River.  Stand Up Paddling is an environmently friendly activity with a Hawaiian tradition.  The sport involves a large, stable surf board and a paddle and is easy to learn and enjoyable for the entire family.


Janis provided a demo run for Dave Kenton on Silver Lake in Milford, who enjoyed his first sunset session. (photos below)

The Mispillion Maritime Association promotes water activities on the Mispillion in Milford and is having a special event this Saturday. The Augusta launch will be celebrated Saturday, June 12, 10:00AM-1:00PM at the Wilson M. Vinyard Shipyard. (Launch at 11:00AM.) Stand Up Paddling on Assateague Island, Milton and Millsboro

Today's was girls' Stand Up Paddle Day on the DelMarVa with DelMarVA Board Sport Adventures.  We were out and about giving demos and sharing our love of Stand Up Paddling with great women of Maryland and Delaware.

We also visited with our friend Steve, at Island Adventure Kayaking, just before you go over the Assateague Island bridge on the left. Stop in and give his kayak's a spin and check out his new diggs!

Paddle Board to Raise Money for Breast Cancer

DelMarVa Board Sport Adventures would like to offer our RRD paddle boards to a small group that would like to coordinate a fund raiser for breast cancer on the DelMarVa.

I can't promise that Larry the Whale will show up, but I just know God will make something amazing happen.

Yeeeee Ha!  2 More RRD Stand Up Paddle Boards Arrived Today!  We received one more StandUpELEVEN and one new WASSUP 10' board.  We are so excited to build our rental fleet to get more people out onto the water enjoying the DelMarVa in an eco-friendly way on a RRD Stand Up Paddle board.  Stay tuned for the arrival of our next shipment, which will include a Stand Up Paddle Board for Kids.

Stand Up Paddling on Assateague with DelMarVA Board Sport Adventures

What a glorious day on Assateague Island.  Our day started bay side where we paddled around and met Steve and Matt with Island Adventure Kayaking.  Such nice guys with a like minded heart for getting folks out on the water.  You have to check them out if you'd like to Kayak during your stay on the DelMarVa. 

I especially like that Matt goes to St. Mary's College of Maryland where my daughter will be going this fall.   My husband and DelMarVA Board Sports owner, George Markopoulos, donated some gear to the windsurfing club there and plan to continue to do so in the future.  Here is a blog post about DelMarVa Board Sports sharing the stoke w/ the next generation. 

Afterwards, we hung out oceanside where I took my first adventure on a SUP into the ocean.  OK, I'm a geek because I didn't feel safe without a life jacket.  Hey, you do what you gotta do!  Right?

We gave our friend Travis, a ride on the RRD SUP 11 and he got right up and went out to catch some waves.  Most people take to SUP'ing rather easily but Travis was all over it man!
